Code Enforcement

Service & Instructions

The Code Enforcement Division enforces ordinances which regulate zoning, substandard structures, high weeds, junk motor vehicles, and signs. Health Inspections ensure that safe and sanitary conditions exist at food establishments, and day care facilities.

These inspections are conducted on a routine, follow up and complaint basis:
  • Weedy lots
  • Illegal dumping
  • Junked vehicles
  • Reporting a complaint
  • Unclean premises
  • Itinerant vendor / peddler permits


The mission of the Code Enforcement Division is to protect and improve the quality of life, health and welfare of the community through enforcement of the housing, health and zoning regulations.

Code Enforcement Procedure


  • Complaint received & investigated.  During the investigation, surrounding properties are also canvassed for violations.  If violations are found, the property owner(s) is sent a notice to correct within a certain # of days.

        At the expiration of this time, a re-inspection is done; if violations are still, present, a citation is issued.  If the violations have been corrected, the case is closed.

  • Annual inspections are conducted for food establishments, bars & taverns, daycare centers & foster homes.
