Engine 2 is assigned to the Southside Fire Station. It is staffed daily by a Lieutenant, an Apparatus Driver/Operator and a Firefighter.

Engine 2 is a 2005 American LaFrance 1250 Gallons Per Minute (GPM) pumper, carries 500 gallons of water, has a Class A & Class B foam system with two 20 gallon foam cells.

Class A foam is used on ordinary combustibles (i.e. paper, wood, grass).

Class B foam is used on flammable liquids (i.e. gasoline, diesel).

This engine is equipped with 1200 feet of 5” supply hose. This hose is used to get water from a fire hydrant to the fire engine. There are two pre-connected 1 ¾” attack hose. 300 feet of 2” attack hose, 250 feet of 2 ½” hose, which is used on large fires. 200 feet of 1 ¾” additional attack hose. This vehicle also carries self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) for use in hazardous environments, assorted other equipment for firefighting/rescue or salvage of property.

This engine is also equipped with a deck gun, which is a large nozzle connected to the pump which allows the engine to discharge water flows from 500 GPM to 1,000 GPM for use on large fires.

This engine is equipped with 3 ladders, a 24 foot extension ladder, a 14 foot roof ladder, and a 10 foot folding ladder. The 10 ft. folding ladder is used for gaining access to small spaces (i.e. attic crawl spaces).



Large Diameter Discharge – Used to pump large diameter hose to supply another pumper.

Pump Suction Inlet – Used to get water from a fire hydrant into the pump.

Attack Hose – Used to extinguish fires.
