Alice Beautification Commission

Getting the Word Out

Our Alice Beautification Commission members speak to clubs and civic organizations to promote our environmental program.

Clubs like the Kiwanis, Booklovers Club, Alice Garden Club, Optimists, and Noon Lions receive up-to-date information from our dedicated Alice Beautification Commission members.

Students of the Sociology class of Coastal Bend College at the Alice campus hear our environmental program and results each term. The Chamber of Commerce, through their newsletter, informs their members of our recycling efforts and how each business can participate by bringing their recyclables to our Center.

Our Sheriff’s office now has a community sign board. Our messages are displayed for our special events. This reaches more than 20,000 people daily at this busy intersection of E Third St. and N Cameron St.

Program Awards

The Alice Beautification Commission’s program has maintained its Proud Community status with Keep Texas Beautiful, Inc. since 1992.

Further recognition of our program is the 1999 Environmental Vision Award given by the Corpus Christi Corporate Recycling Council.

The Texas Corporate Recycling Council selected us as a finalist for their Vision Award Competition.

Commission Goal

Our goal is to increase our community education program to encourage recycling and buying of recycled products.

For instance, November 15 is Texas Recycles Day and Alice participates each year in this statewide event (also America Recycles Day).
