Keep Alice Beautiful Commission, a nine-member City Council appointed volunteer board, sponsors recycling and beautification efforts based on the guidelines of Keep Texas Beautiful, Inc.
This Commission works to:
Consider and propose programs which would beautify the City through a united community effort involving the county, City, chamber of commerce, school, civic and service organizations, private industry, and individuals of the community and implement such programs as may be approved by the City Council
Annually organize and carry out a short term campaign to encourage citizen participation in activities designed to beautify the City
We receive the help of Jim Wells County, Chamber of Commerce, businesses and clubs, and organizations for our cleanups. The City of Alice has two code enforcement officers who also conduct educational seminars for the fourth graders. We established our local drop-off multi-material recycling center, Coyote Recyclery, in 1996 that is supported by all entities.
Funds for educational materials and media and recycling promotion are received from grants from the Coastal Bend Council of Governments. We are allowed to include flyers in the City of Alice’s utility billing. Our local newspaper, the Alice Echo News, covers all our events. Our two local radio stations, KOPY/KDSI and KUKA, also air our educational messages.
